An expert told Insider the West's piecemeal rollout gave Russia time to adapt to each weapons system. Landmines, booby traps, and trip wires are a favorite Russian tactic, turning Ukraine's environment against Kyiv's own troops. Five Ukrainian soldiers returned from Turkey, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced. Many of these troops who held the line by hiding in bunkers and tunnels under the Azovstal steel plant were Azov battalion members. A prisoner swap organized with the help of Turkey and Saudi Arabia in September allowed hundreds of Ukrainian soldiers to return home. Zelenskyy announced part of the agreement included that five commanders of the Azov battalion who led the charge in Mariupol would remain in Turkey until the war concluded. As for the other Azov soldiers captured in Mariupol, 22 are currently facing trial in Russia after the country designated the battalion as a terrorist group.

Ukraine shared footage it says shows several Russian armored vehicles being taken out. It appears to include footage from the view of "suicide" drones just before they hit the vehicles. The video, shared Tuesday, includes airborne footage that approaches the armored vehicles at speed before crashing into them and abruptly cutting out. That footage appears to be taken from the perspective of loitering munitions, otherwise known as suicide drones, as they are destroyed in the attack.
